My Journey to FOUNDER FREEDOM™
If you don’t’ know me already, my name is Rachel Whynot, biz & marketing success coach for entrepreneurs that want to become “freedompreneurs.”
I built a multi-7 figure business starting at the young age of 22, and I am now coaching entrepreneurs like me to do the same!
REWIND!: the back story- freedom is SO calling!
I am going to share my journey with you because I want to inspire you to take action and follow your dreams. If that is the only thing you get from this, then I am a VERY happy camper, and wouldn’t it be worth it? 😉 This is what I truly want for you. If I can do it, SO CAN YOU!
When I was a little girl growing up, I had BIG passions and dreams…
I grew up in a small town in Canada, (yes it was cold in the winter with LOTS of snow… and igloos of course. ;))
I had many many passions, and wanted to become something GREAT, but I didn’t know exactly what that was??
SO, I tried different things to find what this “calling” was…
I tried skating- hated it. I tried swimming- not for me! I even tried sailing, this was my big bro’s passion and skill, but not really mine…BUT I did love the freedom of being out on the water of course!
And then FINALLY, I found dance. (YES YES- this get’s my blood flowing and I love it!)
SO, naturally, I decided to become a dancer. (Who woulda thought!?)
I started in a small studio in my home town and tried to be the best dancer I could be. I practiced in my living room every night and competed in competitions every year. Most of them failing and getting LAST PLACE, but I didn’t care because I loved it!
Soon enough I realized that my small town just wasn’t enough, and I wanted MORE.
So… I heard about a Dance Company that was THE BEST in Canada and it just so happened that they were auditioning dancers to join their ELITE team.
(HELL YES, I can do that! Sign me up.)
**SIDE NOTE**: Rule of thumb…swearing is okay with positive passion, NOT negativity. That’s how I roll.
I had many people doubt me at that time. Remember I was just a small town nobody with a dream and a passion. Even my own small town dance teacher, at the time, told me that I should probably not audition. (Pffftt I showed her!)
Despite the large negativity I got from people around me, I chose to do it anyway. Sure enough, I auditioned for the TOP dance company in Canada for the OLYMPICS of dance and I was the only person that actually got it!
(WOAH I ACTUALLY DID IT!!??) I couldn’t believe it, but I kind of also knew it as well… only because I believed in it SO whole heartedly. (Wink wink)
I knew it because I had this firing urge in me that this is what I TRULY wanted and was PASSIONATE about.
…and I would do anything to get it!
Fast forward 10 years… I find myself in the EXACT same position.
(How did that happen??)
I ended up going to University for dance (and HATED it). This was not what I wanted to do as a career. Soooo what the heck did I want then?
I decided to try something new. I fell in love with marketing and events, working many events for different marketing agencies and brands. I knew this was my next big calling…
Sure enough, I started working for a marketing agency in Toronto (because I needed to make more money and I wanted to learn the internal stuff), and then another, and another… and then soon got FIRED. (YIKES- horrifying failure alert!)
What the heck, why do I keep finding myself in the same positon over and over again? Failure, SUCCESS, failure, SUCCESS, on and on…
I soon realized that every time I decided to do something on my own, and be totally FREE with that decision, I succeed!
( This was one of my early “AHA” moments).
**”Life isn’t about doing things for other people all the time, it’s about being free to make your own decisions and live your own passions and dreams.” I decided to live the free life from that point on…**
So, I opened up my very first business.
(Well, my mother says second to the classic lemonade stand I built when I was 7, but I don’t count that, obviously!)
…We opened a marketing agency and within 6 years grew it to multi-7 figures. (Check check on financial goals!)
The point of all this is to show you that no matter where you are in life, with all of the failures and successes, you CAN live and work freely if this is what you truly want and you are PASSIONATE about it.
Building a successful business is not that difficult as long as you know the right steps to take and learn from other experienced mentors and coaches.
(Especially their past mistakes so you don’t repeat them!)
That is exactly what I did!
I always say to my clients… “Be a sponge”— no matter who you talk to, you can learn something new and use that knowledge for your own power.
Use it, test it, live it, freely! 😉
Let me know your story in the comments below, OR any questions or comments of course. Hope this has helped inspire you one way or another! Lots more where this came from. 🙂 Thanks so much!
